Meeting at Brookwood Library on March 19, 2023 at 3pm

Our March artist meeting will be held in the community room of the Brookwood Library at 3pm on Sunday March  19th. We do not have an artist  meeting scheduled for April so this is the last chance to meet with us and ask questions before artist registration starts.

We are planning to move ahead with Open Studios this year after having been able to recruit volunteers for some key positions, including co-chair and treasurer. We are still finalizing the timeline for but we are currently looking at registration starting on April 2 and continuing until April 23rd. We are reviewing the numbers and hope to be able to keep the registration fee the same as last year, which was $125 for an artist registration, $300 for a gallery and $500 for a studio collective.

At the March meeting at the Brookwood Library we will be discussing our plans for Open Studios 2023. Topics covered will include registration, the mentorship program and a discussion on how to increase our level of publicity. The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend and will be of particular interest to artists who wish to participate in the 2023 Tour. The Brookwood library is located at 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Thank you to everyone who applied to online studios. We have been reviewing the applications and will be notifying all applicants soon.

2023 Planning Update

After the meeting on February 4th at the Brookwood Library we had several people step forward to offer help with putting on the tour. This moves us closer to being able to make the Open Studios Tour 2023 a reality. We can still use all the help that we can get to make Open Studios 2023 happen. If you think that you might be able to help out you can find out more about volunteer opportunities here . There is a form at the bottom of that page. We will soon be announcing the date for our next open meeting in March.

Registration is open until March 1st for Online Studios 2023. Online Studios will take place in the Spring and is intended for artists who are unable to or would prefer not to have visitors in their home. See here for more details.

Meeting at Brookwood Library on February 4, 2023 at 3pm

Washington County Art Alliance will be holding an open meeting to review the 2022 Washington County Open Studios Tour and discuss plans for Open Studios 2023. This will be held in the community room of the Brookwood Library at 3pm on Saturday February 4th. The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend and will be of particular interest to artists who wish to participate in the 2023 Tour or who participated in 2022. The Brookwood library is located at 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Agenda items will include

  • A review of the the 2022 Open Studios Tour
  • Introducing Online Studios
  • Mentorship and Education Programs
  • Planning for Open Studios 2023

This will be an interactive meeting and the audience will be encouraged to ask questions.

At this stage we have not yet been able to assemble the complete team of volunteers necessary to be able to make the October 2023 Tour Weekend a reality. We hope to make some progress towards that goal at this meeting. We need to assemble the team by the end of March, otherwise we will have to wait till October 2024 for our next tour weekend . The other programs – online studios, education and mentorship will take place regardless of whether the tour weekend in October happens.

We have put together a list showing the volunteer positions that need to be filled. That list is at washcoart.org/volunteers2023 . On that page there is a link to a form that you can complete if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or want to learn more.

Introducing Online Studios

Many artists would like to join the Open Studios Tour but are unable to do so because their home is not suitable for hosting an art tour or because of health concerns. Online studios is a program that was piloted in 2021 that allows those artists to participate by presenting their art online. We have expanded that program for 2023, applications will be accepted starting on February 1st and episodes will air in the spring of 2023. For more information visit washcoart.org/online-studios-2023 . More information will be presented at the public meeting.

I hope to see you at the meeting. Our next meeting ( tentatively scheduled for early March ) will be conducted via Zoom.

Minutes of this meeting will be posted on washcoart.org within a week of the meeting.
