Media: fiber collage, acrylics
Artist’s Statement: In life as in art, I explore beauty glowing from beneath the surface of the Human Condition. Creating fiber collage prayer/meditation flags, began as a Love response to chaos and suffering in 2015. Making them is itself a meditation practice. My posture is one of listening in Silence and Unknowing to what will flow through me, as I layer recycled fabric and fibers into expressive images. Details are stitched in as I move the flag freely on the sewing machine, “painting with thread.” Also an acrylic painter, my technique is, “glazing,” which requires dozens of layers of paint. Whether with fiber collage or painting, it is my joy to create a “glowing effect,” in pieces. Visit and perhaps make a tiny flag! I will stitch it while you wait.
