Media: Mixed media sculpture and collage
Artist’s Statement: I work in 3D, using repurposed materials which reflects my desire to minimize my impact on earth. Rather than start with an idea, I start with a material and the piece comes together as if by its own volition. My studio has a plethora of unrealized pieces. Some works take months, and some years, to finish. Recently I finished two pieces by pulling off and exchanging their parts and just-like-that; two pieces that had waited years, were complete. I stay with one combination of materials to create a series of ten or more pieces united by a common theme. I explore the juxtaposition between theme and materials and like birds, I use whimsy to attract attention. I use the refuse of human consumption to create a symbol of the natural world.
