Artist’s Statement: One of my artwork’s most essential elements is the stories behind them. Since my stroke in 2010, I have a newfound understanding and love for the stories that go into our memories and the special moments I capture through my artwork. Because of my realistic training in illustration, my new work in abstraction and collage has been a stretch, but I’ve been enjoying adding this new skill to my realistic work in acrylics. I have been able to combine my love for drawing and my interest in collage, into my acrylic paintings. As a former athlete and a coach, I knew it would be a battle to retrain myself to paint, draw, and do life with my left hand, but I have been given this incredible opportunity to create and teach my art!
