Jeffrey Hall

Media: mixed media, acrylic, watercolor
Artist’s Statement: I take in energy and imagery from my surroundings and re-imagine it to develop a physical, visceral, and spiritual connection. I intuitively mix and match my sensory observations from everyday experiences, combining them with graphic and painting techniques. I build layers and choose colors that evoke feelings and create interesting surfaces. Sometimes formal concerns are at the forefront, but often they take a back seat until I find the rhythm that makes the artwork sing.I love using sand from coastal areas and local rivers, as well as up-cycled materials found locally, to connect my art to this place I love. Although my work may seem familiar, I call them “Land-escapes” because most of the time they are made up.
Shari Erickson

Media: acrylic, watercolor, mixed media
Artist’s Statement: I love birds. I just do. And moss. And water with it’s endless possibilities. I like my art to be first about the subject and second about the media itself. I love laying tightness on top of looseness and letting the first marks I make show through here and there, creating endless layers of interest. My painting education is in realism. I have carried that forward into my current work, sometimes venturing into elements of abstraction, often incorporating metallic effects, combining printmaking techniques: etching, monoprinting, and naturally sourced pigments. My heart’s desire is that my art might encourage a closer look at our incredible universe, which is our gift to nurture and protect and sustain us as we enjoy our place within it.
